R.
R was 13 years old and had been known to Social Services
for some time. She was beyond parental control and
attending special educational provision for children
with behavioural difficulties. School subsequently
excluded R stating they could no longer guarantee her
or other children’s safety. She displayed challenging
behaviour and regularly absconded.
R was placed away from her area of origin with a white/british-black/asian
couple. Following a great deal of one to one, self esteem
building and boundry setting together with a lot of relationship
building with R’s mother and father, who were sceptical
about the quality or purpose of the placement, R is now
stable in this placement and displaying non of the above
behaviour. The relationship between the carers and the
parents has been the key to the success of this placement.
A
A is a 10 year old male who, together with his brothers
and sisters, was removed from parents after long periods
of neglect and domestic violence. He was placed outside
his local area with a white/british couple who had
3 young boys of their own.
A was removed from his parents care and taken directly
to the carers. He was welcomed by the family and soon
gained enough confidence to be able to participate in
activities with the other boys. He attends full time
education and is a member of a local football team. |
