Be Healthy
It is the right of every child to enjoy a healthy childhood and at Perpetual Fostering we work alongside health care professionals to ensure that we meet all present and future health care needs. Many children arrive at Perpetual having experienced very chaotic parenting and lifestyles.  As a result there may have been a steady deterioration in their health and development.
Through the process of assessment and care planning we are able to identify unmet health needs and develop appropriate strategies to implement positive change.
Healthy eating is promoted by all our foster carers and supported by us through training courses.  We recognise it is essential for everyone especially children to receive all the nutrients they need to grow and develop. Eating well and being physically active will improve children’s health as well as their ability to learn and achieve at school. Encouraging our children to eat healthily now will make them more likely to adopt a healthy lifestyle as they get older.

Stay Safe
Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in safe environment that is free from threats or harm. It is our first and most important task to ensure that the children and young people are cared for in a way that protects their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Foster carers receive ongoing child protection training to assist them in the day to day working with children. Risk assessments identify ways of reducing risk that may face children in their day to day lives leaving them free to enjoy their childhood.

Enjoy and Achieve
At Perpetual Fostering we strive to ensure that we maximise every child’s potential and understand the importance of developing each child’s academic and social potential. Wherever possible we aim to maintain the child in their current school placement so not to create any further disruption in their lives. Some children who are placed with foster carers may need extra levels of support to help them back on track during this difficult period and tailor made packages of support can be delivered to each individual child to ensure that they are able to achieve the best possible results and outcomes.
Children and young people are encouraged to follow their interests and hobbies and are supported if they wish to attend any community based clubs that will further develop their skills.

Make a Positive Contribution
Children and young people’s views shape the way we deliver our services and we believe that the quality of the care we deliver can only be judged against the outcomes and involvement of young people. It is essential that young people have a voice that is listened to, valued and acted upon. Children are involved in the day to day decision making in foster homes and have a full understanding of their rights and responsibilities.
Children are encouraged to take an active interest in their local community and wider society ensuring they can have a fulfilling adult life.

Achieving Economic Wellbeing
The experience for many children who are in care and subsequently leave care is very poor but at Perpetual Fostering we prepare all young people with the necessary skills to enable those tools necessary for independent living.
Young people will be supported in developing their skills in relation to receiving regular pocket money and assisted/supported to save and spend wisely, through opening a savings account for each child in placement.
We also achieve economic well being by providing suitable financial support to foster carers which is paid regularly and on time.
Prior to leaving care all young people will have an independent plan formulated to look at specific issues of that young person. E.g. training opportunities, further education, work placement. This will help in determining a course that a young person can take to reach financial independence.
